The way to know life

Ahhhh...It's Saturday!
So happy it is the weekend!

I played with my art journal again, and made a page according
to a challenge over on the Practical Scrappers blog.
The following quote was to be explored:

"The way to know life is to love many things"
- Vincent Van Gogh
Interesting.

So....I explored.
And here is what I discovered...
The background is done with Gesso, various pieces of paper,
and Pink Distress Paint and Gelatos.
I used a Prima Doll, and paper pieced her dress.
The quote is done with a variety of words from Tim Holtz and Fancy Pants Designs.
'Life' is from Jillibean Soup stickers;
Things' is from Making Memories.
LOVE is a Prima wood word. Flowers are from stash, topped with puffy paint.
This was such fun!

I am linking this up to the Practical Scrapper Art Journal page.

That is it for me for now.

Art Journal Friday

TGIF Folks!

How has your week been going??

The weather here in Quebec is really terrible--freezing rain, which is
causing major problems for everyone.
Yeesh!
I am so done with winter..!

So, what do I do when I need to unwind? Go into my craft corner
and play with my crafty things.
I did another page in my art journal, which I am so loving!
I saw a quote which totally captivated me.
LOVE this quote.
So, I pulled out a few Unity stamps.
The heart is from a grab bag (sorry---don't remember which set it is from!),
the butterfly with 'create' is a wood mounted stamp, developed for a special cause, if memory
serves me right, and the little witch in the corner is from a
Unity/Bella Blvd collaboration...She's cute, and she is now broken into! YAY!

A little gesso, a little Distress Paint here and there, some washi, puffy paint,
some color from Sharpies, and it's all gouda, like the cheese!

That's it for me.

Have a great evening!

Brush script...attempt #1

Happy Thursday!
How has your week been going?
Moi? ehh...

No comment. ;)

So, if you have been living under a rock recently, you would know about one
of the 'newest' trends in the crafty world.

I am talking about brush scripting.

It has intrigued me tremendously. I *think* because it reminds me of my
Primary school days, WAY back when penmanship was actually taught.
Remember those days??

I feel like penmanship is a lost art. I like my penmanship.

So, I think it was only natural for me to try this. lol

With paint.
On a layout.
eeeekkkkk!!

lol
I used acrylic paint, thinned with a few drops of water, and a round paintbrush.

I practiced on scrap paper first. To get into the flow.

Ok--I will admit it...I was really nervous about using paint near, on my layout.

BUT!
I think it came out great!
It was really fun.
And again, I'll be honest--when I finished with the painting, I let my breathe out.
I did not realize I was holding my breathe.
lol

That's it for me.

Shopping

Hiya!
It's Wednesday...already!
WOW!

So, today's post is a little different.
Someone asked me where I buy my crafting supplies.
Well. I buy them online.

I have compiled a list of my favorite online retailers.
These are also places where the shipping to Canada is very reasonable!
I repeat, VERY reasonable!
Oh, and the service is GREAT!
(That's an important issue for me..lol)
So, in no particular order:

This site started it all for me. Deal a day site, with an awesome assortment of products daily.
I still check every day!

They have a little bit of everything, actually alot!, with a monthly card kit
that is super awesome! Great shipping prices!

Another great site! Deals change daily, and they sell super fast!
Great service and shipping!

I found this place awhile ago, when I was looking for a particular Prima product.
Let me say, Oh.My.Gawsh! Their variety of products is outstanding.
And the staff is amazing! So helpful!
Shipping is reasonable!
They also have a great forum!

And if you want to shop from a Canadian retailer...
This place is AWESOME!
Definitely one of my faves!
I placed an order, and received it within 3(!!!!) days.
I was looking for something in particular, and they got it for me! YAY!
Anoter great place with great people, with a forum. Lots of chatting going
on here, with challenges and such!
I 'found' an old primary schoolmate on this place--amazing!
Love it!

So, these are my top 5!
I hope you check them out!

Love challenge

Happy Saturday!

Over on the Frosted Designs website, there is a Friday challenge...Love Is.

Well, for me, there's a few things I love.
 There's the hubs.
And my kids.

And they are usually my source of inspiration.

Here's my take of this wonderful challenge.
There's a little of each color, quite a bit of pink, but that's OK! :D
The papers are from an older AC Amy Tangerine Sketchbook collection,
and the yellow heart paper is from Dear Lizzy.

I also attempted one of the newer trends, brush script.
I used watered down acrylic paint, and a round nylon brush.
And practiced before I did it on the layout.
I like it! :D

So, that's it for me.

Happy Friday, Happy Valentine's!

It's Friday, folks!
Yippee!

Happy Valentine's Day, too!

Do you know what Friday means to me??
Besides another work day, it's Unity's Friends with Flair !!

LOVE!

So, recently, I started an art journal.
I am slowly getting to it.
It's a little more daunting than I thought, but that is alright!
It's a challenge for me, and I am succeeding. HA!

Here is my page this week, with another inspirational quote!
I used my Geloatos, and watercolor pencils.
Along with one of my favorite Unity stamps ever--that Love Bug, isn't it cute??

That quote is pretty inspirational, too!

Have a great day!

Valentine cards

Happy Thursday!
I hope your day is going better than mine...:)

I finally finished my Valentine cards for my hubs and kiddos....
It was much harder than I thought, or intended.
I had big ideas, but like most things lately, it didn't pan out.
Oh well!

So, without further jabbering, here they are:

This one is for the hubs!
Note : All cards have a Kraft base.
Used MME Blush papers, Echo Park sentiment sticker, Maya Road heart,
Distress Paint--red, Glossy Accents on heart, MS gold glitter on heart.
This is for my daughter.
The papers are Crate Papers Love Notes (LOVE!!!), Unity stamp,
MS heart stickers, Freckled Fawn washi tape
This is for one of my sons.
It was my very first time making a confetti pocket, and WOW! what fun!
Papers are from Crate Paper Love Notes, the 'cherish' tag is from Pink Paislee,
the washi tape is from Glitz design. Heart sequins are from stash.
And last, but certainly not least.
This is for my other son.
Papers are again from Crate Paper Love Notes, as are the balloons, except for the
silver one. The tag behind the balloon is from Jillibean Soup, and the sentiment
is from MME Sweetest Thing.
I used my Cuttlebug and a heart balloon (from a Mickey Mouse set) to cut
and emboss the balloon.
Super fun to make!
These were fun.
BUT!
I am so over Valentine's now...let's go, onto the next
holiday, please! lol

I am linking these up to the following:

So, that's it for me.
Until tomorrow.

Art journal ...with Flair

Happy Friday!

One week left until Valentine's Day! Oh boy!

Just a quick post today...as you know, I can jabber on and on! ;)

I recently acquired an art journal, a Dyan Reaveley DYLUSIONS Journal, from Ranger, found here. I was excited to get one...I wanted the juices to flow. Received it in the mail..and looked at it..felt it...and nothing....A few days passed, and I got inspired. I mean, seriously, what was I expecting?? That the journal would 'just' get me to be creative?? Doesn't work like that.

I pulled out my Gelatos, and art pencils, and some Unity stamps, and went with it. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Put one of my favorite quotes in there, too.

Voila!

I added some Making Memories Word Fetti in there, too.
I love that stamp--she's perfect for a art journal!
Words to remind me.
I also did the first page. I also used some
Unity stamps again.
So, where am I going wit the art journal?? Not sure. Just have been
wanting to do one for a while.
Experiment, have fun.
This was quite fun. Even more when you are not
afraid of messing up.

I am linking this up to Unity's Friends with Flair.

That's it for me.
Have a great day.
Be safe. get crafty.
