HIMCR #179 - Freestyle!

 Happy Saturday folks!!
Do you believe that it is the last Saturday before Christmas???
Unreal....really, it is.
Busy day for us.
My gang and some friends are heading to our church to make Christmas 'baskets'
for the less unfortunate folk in our area.
We have been doing this for many years, and my kids enjoy doing this.
Then we deliver. This year, we have our local Scout group helping us.
Should be great!

Anyways, being Saturday means that there is a new challenge over on
It's ANYTHING GOES!!!
How fun is that??!

This week's sponsor a Day for Daisies!!

The prize is a $12 Gift certificate to spend in their shop!!

Let me say, I am not really a digital stamp kind of gal, but lately, wow!!!
Especially this site!
It has some AMAZING designs!

The DT were allowed to work with an image of their choosing.
The image I choose, well, just tugged at my heart strings.
Made e think of the angels, and Baby Jesus and such....
I had the perfect paper picked out for my angel.
It is an older collection from Fancy Pants Designs--Winter Wonderland.
I kept the design fairly simple as I didn't want to pull away from the main messgae,
which is 'Peace On Earth'.

I used a mix of coloring mediums; pastel pencils, chalks, and metallic pens..
With a touch of  metallic silver Zazz glue.

That is it for me...time to get my gang ready.
Hope to see your creations--!
have a great day!
Be safe. Get crafty.

Friday with possibilites

 TGIF??
For me, it is.
Lightly snowing here, and the weather is mild.
Blissfully beautiful!!

Christmas is almost here--are you ready??
For us, almost.
sigh!...almost!

I have a piece of art to share with you today.
I felt like getting ....'artsy'...today.
Took a canvas, some Gelatos, my Sharpies
and some Unity stamps, along with a dark dye ink.

This is what I created:
I ended up putting 2 rolled flowers on the bottom left.
Just because. :)
I think I will put this up in my daugter's room---
after all, she chose the colors! ;)

I am linking this up to Unity's Friends with Flair challenge this week.

Thanks for stopping by!

Can you believe that we are already in Decenmber??
And
That I have not posted in a couple of weeks??
Well, the latter being with a technical error with my 'dear' laptop,
which is has been  repaired 3x since acquiring it.
Not impressed with the service at Bureau En Gros (or Staples, for you Non-Quebecers!)

Anyhow--besides that, and things just being hectic in general,
I was able to get some crafting done.
(Can I hear a 'WOOP'?)

This post is to display my card for Hiding In My Craft Room.
Saturday meaning a brand new challenge--which this week happens to be:
HIMCR #177 - Christmas Colors!

I had the opportunity to 'play' with some of the papers--and let me say,
WOW! Gorgeous!!

the absolute beauty of the papers!

Wild and Precious life

 Happy Friday!
Sorry about the late post, but I was pretty excited that I had some time for some 'me' time,
which equals crafty time!!

I went outside the box tonight.
I have lots of stamps, especially Unity,
(although probably not as many as some of you gals---you know whom you are!)
and I haven't been 'following' them lately.
Miss them....honestly do.

And as I was looking through my bin of Unity stamps yesterday,
I told myself, "Laura--you must use these before they wither and die away!"
Yep, I was talking to myself, and to beat that, I actually answered!
LOL!

Anyways.
Tonight, I wanted to make a nice bag for someone's gift.
I had these canvas bags from my Studio Calico's Project Life subscription from
a few months ago. I had an idea!
With this awesome stamp from Unity, and a dye ink, and a hard
surface (obviously!), I inked up that stamp, and stamped away.
Then I went to color the inside of the stamp with my Sharpies,
when I realized that my son hadn't brought them home from school.
From a project that was a few weeks ago.
Grr!
No problem. Paint to the rescue.
Used acrylic paint, and a fine paintbrush, and le
VOILA!!!
I really like my creation!
And it turns out that I am actually able to enter this in a couple of challenges:

So, there you have it.
Have a great night!!

HIMCR #175--Any Holiday

Hiya folks!
Thanks for stopping by!
How's the weather??
that seems to be the topic on many one's mind these days,
especially after the dumping in Buffalo!
Here in Quebec, in our neck of the woods, in our little town,
we were gifted with quite a bit of snow ourselves, not as much as our neighbors,
but enough for the plow trucks to keep busy for a couple of days!

Anyways--onwards, right?
It's Saturday!
A new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room.

This week's challenge #175--Any Holiday!!

And this week's sponsor is the awesome
Serri Baldy's My Besties!

The DT were given a choice of images to 'play' with,
and I choose this sweet thing!

And with this week's theme--Any holiday--
it was the perfect opportunity for me to get more Christmas cards done!!

I had originally colored her in green with pink roses, for Christmas.
I had glittered the roses, and left the card to dry.
Well! Big mistake!
Came back to find that she was 'accessorized'!
My daughter had 'helped' with the bling...I did not know whether to laugh or cry!!
LOL--of course I laughed! :D
So, I started over, and used my paste pencils and chalks.
The papers are from DCWV Arctic Wishes.

Hope you all have a chance to play along with us this week!

Well, that's it for me for now!
Have a great day!

had no idea of what I wanted for the card.
Drew a complete blank...blah!lol
Came up with this creation.

and the flowers are from Basic Grey, as is the background.

Thursdays with layouts

Happy Thursday, friends!
Can you believe that it is the first week of November??
Holy Cannoli!
Life has been busy for us here. Lots of good stuff!
Life is good!
Don't get me wrong--it can be, and is, stressful, but I am happy with my life!

So, I was looking through my pictures folder yesterday
and realized that I had not shared some layouts I had created in awhile.

These are pictures of my DD's first year in ballet. Her Grande Spectacle!
It was beautiful--mama cried! lol
I used Echo Park Ballet Mini Kit--I knew it would come in handy one day!
Some of the embellishments were taken from various Maggie Holmes' collections, as well
as Shimelle's new collection.
The 'Ballet' title is from Creative Embellishments--awesome chipboard!! I painted it white, then heat embossed it white---love it!
Then took my purple Sharpie and added some purple to the shoes...just to blend it in!

My next layout has pictures from last Christmas.
Aptly named 'Waiting for Santa'
We have a tradition of putting out cookies on Santa's plate, milk in his mug,
and a carrot for the reindeer.
Very simple layout---I did not want to draw away from the picture.

I used papers from Basic Grey as is the Santa and stamps,
various washi tape (OA is in there!); 'Sweet Moments'
tag is from Teresa Collins ; shipping tag from Studio Calico; letters are from
American Crafts (Santa), Basic Grey (For), Making Memories (waiting) .
That's it for me for now!
Have a great day!

Here's my project:

I used papers from DCWV Autumn Stack (gorgeous papers!!),
and the red leaf is also from DCWV. (So happy to be able to use that!)
My image was colored with Faber-Castell Pastel Pencils, and  Pebble Chalks.
Let me say, that I am in LOVE with those pastel pencils! LOVE!
The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamps.

Amazing digital images!

Here is what I chose, and created for this week's challenge:

Was I ever impressed with the feel, the performance!!
I then used a blender to soften it up.
'Peace on Earth' is heat embossed.
Paper are from Doodlebug (surprised?)
Ribbon and gem in the star are from stash.
I like it--to me, it represents the true meaning of why
we celebrate this holiday!

Holly Jolly

 Happy Saturday!

This weeks HIMCR Challenge #170 is EMBOSSING.

The sponsor this week is

Paper Temptress,
with the prize being
a 25$ gift certificate to the store! Woohoo!

The DT were to use paper from said store, but I did not have any.
So....I used what I had in my...stash..er...supply.
And it gives me a chance to make more Christmas cards!
I used my TH embossing folder, covered the inside with red ink,
and embossed my cardstock.
Love this effect!
The die cuts are from Basic Grey's 25th & Pine ---I must
say that I am a tad smitten with Basic Grey these days!
Especially this collection from last year!
I edged one of the ovals with AC glitter glue (Zazzles, I think?)
I like this card---and I love the embossing challenge!

HIMCR #167--Any Holiday!

Well, that is just perfect!
With Halloween right around the corner, what better reason to get crafty, right?
Of course, I had my sidekick to help me.

We used papers and elements from Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor;
Carta Bella's All Hallow's Eve, and Graphic 45's Steampunk Spells.
(3 of my absolutely fave Halloween collections!!)
The bats are from October Afternoon Witch Hazel---which is another great collection.

Dream Big with Julie Nutting Dolls

Hiya!
One word: Prima.
Excited yet??
I get little shivers of excitement when I hear about Prima.
Especially those adorable beauties, the Julie Nutting Doll Stamps!!
Have you seen them??
Better yet, have you ever 'played' with them??
Excuse me here, but ...EEEKKK!
Love them so much!
And my little darling loves them.
Even better.
I have made her paper dolls, reminiscent of days gone by.
I had such fun with my paper dolls, and I am so happy that they bring much joy to the Little Miss.
So, where is this going, right?
Well, there is a blog hop over at scrapbookingcafeonline this week.
With the topic being...drum roll please...Julie Nutting Dolls, or Prima dolls for short!
Awesome!
I was so in!!
So, without further adieu, here is my example.

I love to make inspiration collages for my daughter's room.

Words of inspiration for her to remember, and I think especially in this day and age,
it is very important.
So, with the help of Prima, I made this for her room.
I used Glitz papers as the background, a heart doilie, some bling, and a gold heart,
which unfortunately did not show up properly on the camera. I apologize for that.
The sentiment is from Teresa Collins Something Wonderful collection.
I took my doll stamp, and covered here with embossing ink on snow white cardstock.
Once stamped, I used white embossing powder (Inkadinkadoo); heat embossed.
Then took a soft pink ink pad, my ink blending tool, and went all over the white dress with the pink ink.
Hence, this effect. I like it!
So, come and hop with us.
This is my first ever blog hop that I am actually participating. Hopped many a blogs before,
never hosted...

Your next stop on the hop is Czarownica

Boo To You!

 TGIF!
I know I am.
Halloween is fast approaching, and with that holiday,
my dear daughter, who is almost 5, has changed her costume idea several times already!!
And the decorations---oh boy!
We have always decorated our house for Halloween, even when we did
not have kids---it was always fun.
So, lo and behold, darling daughter
decided that WE should start to make decorations, starting last night.
We (lets be honest, it was ME!) used my Cricut machine,
and cut out the letters to form BOO .
Daughter decorated it, as did I, with some stamps, stickers,
and my beloved washi tape.
I attached the letters to some Cosmo Cricket Halloween ribbon, and
VOILA! We have a 'spook'tacular BOO banner!!
Of course, missy had to help with the photo.
She enjoys making crafts, and especially loves my Cricut...:D
How fitting that we made a banner when the challenge for this week over

So, that is it for me for now!
Have a great night!

Prima Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!
May the day bring you lots of smiles!

I was able to play in my craft room the past couple of days--not for long,
but each moment was made to count.
I finally completed a layout that I had been wanting to do for a while.
I based the layout on Prima's sketch for September:

I used Prima's Princess collection, with some Coffee Break's flowers.
The picture came out blue, naturally. It was a grey day, and it came out the way
I envisioned it.
I used the colors from the photo, or tried to.
The papers are from Prima Princess collection; flowers are from Prima Coffee Break and Princess;
letter stickers ('winter') are from Pink Paislee; chipboard letters ('beauty')
are from Studio Calico; pearl strands are from Teresa Collins.
I used Prima gems, and Prima chipboard (clock).
There is also silver embossing done on the background paper, and
along with some Bloom sprays, which can you really see, but they are there.
Fibers and twine are from personal stash
This is my first time submitting a layout to Prima---their creations are
Out Of This World Gorgeous!
But I really wanted to try my hand at a layout like theirs.
I like this layout---it came out great, IMO! :)
That's it for me!
Have a great day!
Be safe. Get crafty.

Christmas....yes, Christmas layout.

Happy Thursday, folks!
Can someone please tell me how we have reached the middle of September already??!
Oh well!
Fall's among us, it seems.
Brisk cold air, colors changing on the trees, geese leaving...
With the changing of the seasons, and also hearing that there was something less than 100
sleeps until Christmas (is that possible?), had me wanting me to hide in my craft room
and come out when it's Spring! Possible??
Nah!
I decided to create a double page layout with some pictures that were taken some time ago,
like say, last Christmas.
I also decided to use up some delicious Christmas paper from DCWV;
and what better way to display their papers than with their monthly Stackaholic Challenge sketch?
September's sketch is this one:

Here is my take:

The stack I used was the Christmas & Winter Rhinestone Stack.
Another gorgeous stack from DCWV. I also used cardstock from their Winter Cardstock
Stack---their gold cardstock is luscious, and the glitter cardstock is
amazing--meaning it does not come off onto your hands! Love that!

Then on my craft desk, I had scraps, and more scraps, from previous projects.
I usually store them in a coordinating color folder--but then remembered about
a challenge for the week over at Hiding In My Craft Room.
Their challenge for this week is:

HIMCR #165 - Super Scraps Saturday!

Awesome!
So, I made a card with my scraps and my new punch,
a leaf punch from EK Success (score at the Dollarama!!)
All scraps, people!
The 'thank you' wood tag is from Jillibean Soup,
and the papers are a mix of DCWV and Simple Stories.

This was such fun to make!
Thank you, Laurie, for having such a fun challenge!
Well, that's it for me, folks!

Have a great evening!
Be safe. Get crafty.
