Some brotherly love

Howdy folks!
Gosh, it seems like it has been forever since I've posted.
Or actually did a layout.
Working full time is crazy...lol
But hey, c'est la vie, right??

Anyways.
I did some playing in my craft room.
I am determined to scrap more and more of my mountain
of older photos I have accumulated.
Know what I mean?
Sure you do! ;)

So, I used some of my newer goodies on this layout.
Crate Paper Boys Rule!
Wow!
Love this line!

I used American Crafts Kraft cardstock as the background;
various Echo Park cardstock cute with my circle cutter;
numbered vellum is from Crate Paper Boys Rule;
the die cuts, journal cards, wood shapes, star sequins are all
from the same Crate Paper line, Boys Rule.
The letters are from American Crafts Thickers.
That awesome stamp in the bottom right hand corner is from the
Paper Bakery (LOVE that one!)
Enamel dots are from Doodlebug Designs.
See those awesome splatters??
Stamped with a Unity stamp. Seriously!
Those stamps are awesome---they are among my faves.
Sadly I haven't pulled them out often enough layely.
So, there you have it.
A layout of my 2 little guys, taken over 10 years ago.
Man!
Time sure does fly.

So, I'm linking this up to the following:

Natural challenge

Happy Monday!
Late posting for me today.
Time is flying by for me, as I am sure it is for you all.

So much work, not enough time for anything anymore it seems.
And what as taken the back burner for me??
Scrapbooking.
I ave been trying to complete a layout a week (my goal for this year)
and Boy! is it giving me a run to do it...lol
There are too many awesome challenges out there.

BUT!

I did manage to do one this past weekend.

I received a beautiful set of papers,
and I just knew what pictures to use with them.
Then I used this awesome sketch over on the DCWV blog:
Here is my take:

I enjoyed doing this layout.
It was therapeutic for me, especially after a long week. ;)
All the papers are from this gorgeous stack:
The letters are MME, as is the clear cut 'Beautiful'.
The wood hearts are from Studio Calico, the bling on the butterfly,
(cut from my Slice machine) is from Teresa Collins.
That heart in the corner is also from DCWV, Vintage Collector
--an awesome score from Michael's...all the embellies on liquidation!!
 but alas, no papers...again. sigh!~
I used my small flower punch to make those little flowers,
and added a touch glitter glue to the centre.

I am also linking this up to:

So, that's it for me for now.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thinking of you...

Happy Saturday!
I don't know about you, but I am so relieved that it is the weekend!
Phew!
What a week!
I finally had a chance to get some crafting done.
It actually bothered me that I did not have the time this past week.
Go figure..lol

So, I made this card for someone.
This card is for someone whom I 'worked' with, and has become my friend.
She will no longer work with me.
This card is for her.
This one is for you, Lee-Ann.

Just letting you know that I am thinking of you!
AND...
Expect this in the mail...:)

Thank you, Lee-Ann!
For this card, I used Basic Grey Fresh Cut papers,
the flower stamp is from Technique Tuesday, the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp brand,
The rose is colored with Distress markers (I really need to practice more on that!),
topped off with some enamel dots from Teresa Collins.
The ink pad I used from Hero Arts.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Have a great day, y'all!

New technique

Happy Sunday!
It's Daylight Savings time---have you 'sprung' your clocks ahead??

Right now, I am watching the sun come up, and I hear the birds twirping.
Yesterday, I actually saw geese!
Yes, GEESE!
Is SPRING coming?????
I sure do hope so!

It has been a busy week for me....I did not get a chance to do many crafts.
However.
I did make a card for my dear sweet MIL, whose birthday was this Tuesday past.
We are celebrating with her today.
One of the things I told myself at the beginning was that
I wanted to learn new techniques---either for cards or scrapbooks or mixed media.

This week, I learned a new card tecnique.
When I first saw these pop up on Pinterest, I thought they were so amazing!!
Pop up/Exploding box card.

So, with that idea in mind, I went and searched for a tutorial .
Found one on Splitcoaststampers.com, found here.

Was it easy? Relatively easy. I think it would ave been more easy for me had I had a
Scor-pal. That is on my wish list. But it is very do-able without a Scor-Pal.
I had a few 'grr' moments, with my son snickering at me because I was fighting with the paper.
Ha! I conquered that fight! lol
So, without further adieu, I present my card for my MIL.

I used Fancy Pants Design Love Story  papers, with
Tim Holtz Distress cardstock as the base.
The flowers and other elements are from various companies:
Crate Paper, Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye, Teresa Collins, Amy Tangerine.
The ribbon is from 3 Girl Jam. It was a gift from a friend (Thank you Julie!)
and my first time using it. the colors fit perfectly with the papers, and I especially
like how easy it was to maneuver.
My daughter helped me with the choosing of the elements.
It was fun for her to pick and choose
some things---and wow, I was impressed with what she chose!
She has a flair for design,
it seems, and she's only 4! Proud Mom moment! :)

So, that's it for me for now.
Fingers are crossed that I get a chance to do some crafting today.
I am entering this birthday card for the following challenge:

Happy Sunday!

Can you believe that it is March 2nd, already??
The months are just flying by.
This winter business is driving me bonkers..
Is it so wrong to want Spring so bad???

Anyways.

I haven't posted in awhile.
Life has just been super crazy.
I have been doing alot of thinking lately, and talking
with the hubs about certain things.
It's been hectic.

Onwards.
I did a challenge for DCWV
They have monthly challenges, and a super fun blog.
I personally have a 'crush' on their papers..lol

So, the challenge for February was this one:
This is my take:
This layout took a little more time doing.
I used the Autumn Melody Stack...Gorgeous papers in there!!WOW!
And I pulled out my MME Slice machine to cut out the pumpkins,
 and did some faux-stitching.

I was/am really proud of my layout!
And then, it was chosen to be in the top 10!! woohoo!!
Very exciting!

So, that's it for me.
Have a great day.
Be safe. Get crafty!
